Abbreviated as WWRY which stands for We Will Rock You the musical, is a jukebox musical, based on the songs of Queen and derived their name from their hit single of the same name. The musical was prepared by Ben Elton (British comedian and author) in association with Brian May and Roger Taylor (Queen Members). A jukebox musical is a stage musical that uses formerly released admired songs as its musical score. Typically, the songs have in general a relationship with a certain well-liked musician or group – either for the reason that they were written by, or for, the artists in question. Established in London in 1971, Queen are a British rock band, initially comprising of Lead vocals, piano player (Freddie Mercury); Guitar, vocals (Brian May); Bass Guitar, vocals (John Deacon), and Drums, vocals (Roger Taylor). Have you ever seen Stomp The Musical? It has some of the most interesting instruments used for musical instruments I have ever used or thought of. Using trash cans with balled up socks as mallets for percussion; that is simply genius to tell the truth. Who would think that something so simple would become one of the most watched performances to hit Broadway?
You can use anything as a musical instrument if you know what you’re doing, but to use it like these people it takes some talent. Banging the lids of trash cans in time is easy, getting it to not clash with other instruments would be difficult, unless the others are playing instruments that are designed to hold your trash. With the choreography and timing of these songs used, the excellent performers and the simple instruments this really is something that everyone should see. READ MORE »
